Why Are There So Many Healing Systems?
Healing is about reaching a state physically, mentally and emotionally, where we feel comfortable and peaceful. Healing is not a function of just body or just mind or just soul. Healing is about creating balance. When things go out of balance, healing is needed to balance them out.
Our body is constantly healing, creating and renewing itself. In simple terms, it means bringing things or body back to the state it was in originally where it felt comfortable. Healing also means creating situations or forms (inside and outside body) that are more conducive to comfortable living.
In todays world we have many methods and forms of healing, like medicine systems (allopathic, homoeopathy, Ayurveda, Unani, Naturopathy, Chinese Medicine etc.), energy healing systems (Reiki, Pranic Healing, Angel Therapy, Theta Healing etc.), physical systems (massage, kinesiology, chiropractic, acupressure, acupuncture etc.), emotional and mental systems (talk therapy, emotional free technique or tapping, hypnotherapy etc.) and much more.
Psychosomatic disorders is a term that has been around since a long time and many researches are being done on this to understand the effect of mind on body. Psychosomatic means that mind affects the body. Studies in placebo effect are significant and have proven many times that mind influences the body in more ways than we had previously imagined.
With so many healing systems, it can get confusing at times as which one to follow, what to combine, which one would be the best for me and so on and so forth. However, if you look at it as different kinds of medicines or salts, different salts suit different people; similarly different modalities resonate and benefit different people. Sometimes different modalities benefit one person in different stages of life and disease. Many people who come to me want to know which one to use or learn and which one will suit them best or give them the best results in the fastest of times. Honestly, one never knows. An individual’s energy system can be the best guide as to what will suit them.
