This month we celebrate the festivals of Rakhi which is about nurturing the bond between siblings. We also have Janamashtami this month, which celebrates the birthday of Krishna, the earthly incarnation of Lord Vishnu. Among the trinity of God where each represents an aspect of life – Creation, Nurturing, and Destruction – Lord Vishnu is in charge of Nurturing.
This month, we also celebrate our Independence Day. This was the day when we got the right to run our country and not let anyone else interfere or dictate the rules. This aspect of freedom – to nurture ourselves the way it feels right for us – is one of the most important aspects of survival and growth. We cannot do it as long as we are living by rules made for us by someone else – be it the society, parents, spouse, friends etc.
Nurturing is really about taking care of ourselves, living as an individual with rights and freedom, doing what is right for us and living in our truth.
This month we bring you different perspectives and ways to nurture your being in every way. This edition is about finding yourself, finding your voice, knowing that you have the right and the freedom to live your life according to your truth. Nurturing is about knowing that you are responsible for yourself and no one else can do that job better than you. It is only when you care and love yourself that the world can really love you. When you give yourself the freedom to love and nurture yourself, you inspire people all around you to do the same.
It is the answer and solution for peace in this world of conflict and strife. Begin with yourself.
