Very few people are genuinely interested in the topic of health and nutrition, especially when it comes down to changing old unhealthy habits and incorporating new healthier strategies. Why is this so?
Well, one big reason is that people are kept under constant hypnosis by various forms of media and advertisement, to buy into whatever is being sold, just because food producers want to sell whatever they choose to make. We are constantly being encouraged to buy into unhealthy nutrition, as well as unhealthy lifestyles. The fortunate who have fallen out of this hypnotic spell, are those who have fallen critically sick by eating unhealthy foods, and therefore been jolted out of this commercial trance.
If you really take a good look at what food producers are offering us to eat, you will find that over 50% of it is unhealthy. Food producers themselves have not been educated on what healthy food is, and what is not. So who is to blame actually? The people who are supposed to teach everyone about healthy nutrition? And who are they? Who are the people who really understand what healthy nutrition for a human being is? Well, there will be many who come forward to claim that they are the ones, but how can you trust their advice unless you are aware of the truth yourself?
Thankfully, there are ways, where we can understand by ourselves, what healthy nutrition is, and one of them is a test that I recommend. It is called ‘The Test of The 5 Senses’. This test gave the right answers to Adam and Eve, the first humans supposedly, it will give you the right answers as well, any time you choose, and it will give the same insights to all our future generations too. So what I’m talking about here are timeless truths about the right food for human beings.
Take for example this simple and basic question: How can we deduce if man is Carnivorous, Herbivorous, Omnivorous or Frugivorous?
By thinking really hard about it? The human mind is such a powerful creator, that it can create any idea of what it thinks is the right food. People go just by their fancies and create new food combinations every day. This approach has created some of the most indigestible meals on the planet.
By observing the eating habits of cultures, old and new, around the world? Would that not be just a study of the history of food choices? Were those choices not influenced by what food was locally available and what the popular mindset at that time considered as food?
By microanalysis in a laboratory? Breaking down food into its micronutrients in a lab and analyzing them at microscopic levels has just given us a lot of data, but no sense of what to make of all that data and how to put it functionally together. They try to teach us that the sum of what is required by the human body is equal to the sum of what must be fed to the human body at every meal. But maths is not the way the human body is designed to work.
Nature also guides us as to what food is good for us, at the right time. Mother Nature herself gives us fruits during the fruit bearing season, leaves and vegetables during other seasons and finally roots and grains during the winters, as the only natural surviving foods in winters. Now, it is a fact that every living thing on this earth, except man, eats these seasonal foods and that should tell you that man is going off-track right here. Eating grains all throughout the year has very unhealthy consequences. This may be a big surprise for you, even if you have come out of the latest nutritional college. Yes, what is being taught in the world, even now, is incorrect.
Over 70% of all chronic illnesses prevalent today are caused by either unhealthy food or disproportionate ratios of foods or unsuitable foods for certain body types. This is probably the second shocker for you, but you will only understand its truth after you read my book ‘Become Healthy or Extinct’. All of what I’m sharing with you today is detailed in this book that is a free download on my website www.becomehealthyorextinct.com. This is knowledge that everyone needs to have and that is why it is free. So far, within a year of its release, it has been read in over 30 countries, so I think it is being received quite well. People are ready for change because they are fed up with what doesn’t work.
The first thing we need to understand in the whole nutritional model is, what are unhealthy foods, and get them out of our homes first! The 2nd step is bringing in the real healthy foods. If you do not do the first step, you’re going to be going in circles for a very long time, because the goodness of the 2nd step will always mask the faults of the 1st step. I often get visits from people who are eating a lot of good foods, even natural supplements and superfoods, but who still have some illnesses they just can’t seem to get rid off. That is because they are still eating some bad foods they think is good, or rather, what they’ve been taught is good.
Some of the unhealthy foods that most of us eat on a daily basis are sugar, milk, wheat, rice, sea salt and microwaved food. The reasons why each of these foods is unhealthy are detailed in my book, with enough compelling evidence that even the common man understands very well.
Just to make a case in point, our obsessive consumption of refined sugar leads to acidity, depletion of electrolytes, trace minerals, anti-oxidants, inhibition of cellular protein synthesis, destruction of nerves, tissue damage, inhibition of human growth hormone, elevation of cortisol levels, induces cancer cell division, inhibits mechanisms that slow down tumor growth, negative changes in our genes and reduced functioning of the immune system. We crave for refined sugar products so much, because we get driven by our faulty notions of nutrition, and starve our bodies of foods that contain natural sugars.
The list of unhealthy food also covers:
Food that was cooked days earlier and not preserved well.
Food that has been re-heated and cooled many times.
Foods cooked with refined cooking oil.
Food that is too spicy or food that has too much sugar or sea salt.
Foods containing synthetic preservatives, taste enhancers, stabilizers or artificial color.
Food that has been grown with the help of unnatural fertilizer, unnatural pesticide and synthetic hormones, which unnaturally shorten their growth cycle and increase their yield.
Healthy foods for human beings are fruits, vegetables, leaves, stems, roots, sprouts, non-gluten grains, millets, lentils, nuts, beans, peas, blended fruit and vegetable juices, raw probiotic foods, herbal teas and vegetable broths and soups.
The most important principles of healthy food intake are:
An approximate balance of 80% alkaline and 20% acidic food by the end of each day.
The daily consumption of some raw food like fruits, vegetables, leaves, roots, sprouts and nuts.
Lesser variety of food per meal, as this facilitates efficient digestion as well as a lesser load on the digestive organs, keeping them healthier in the long run.
Different kind of meals through the day to make up variety and all round nutrition.
Eating food combinations that are healthy. Wrongly combined foods create toxic waste.
Not overeating any one type of food for too long and certainly not daily for the rest of your life.
Having as much natural and organic produce as possible.
Eat foods that contain healthy gut bacteria, such as fermented foods or cultured vegetables.
Eating locally grown fruits and vegetables of the season, because these foods are in balance with nature and the human body’s balance with nature during that season.
Eat foods suited for your body type.
Due to modern lifestyles, individual priorities, and misguidance, we have inculcated many bad habits in our lives and practise them right from the time we wake up in the morning till the time we go to bed at night. These habits disrupt our cycle of digestion of food. Poor digestion is the root cause of many chronic illnesses like constipation, flatulence, acidity, ulcers, obesity, skin problems, cholesterol, migraines, gastric problems, piles, blood impurities as well as allergies and high blood pressure. These bad habits are detailed in my book.
Eat more of Living Foods
The energy content in a plant is highest when the plant is alive because its chlorophyll content and cellular structure are intact. The moment the cellular structure is broken down physically by crushing, chewing, or by cooking, the plant material starts decomposing and its nutritional energy starts decreasing rapidly if it is not absorbed immediately by digestion.
Raw plants and their fruits are also teeming with amino acids, live bacteria and living enzymes that aid in the plants’ own metabolic processes. They are beneficial not only for the plant but also for the human body. If we eat plants and fruits without cooking, these amino acids, live bacteria, and living enzymes get into our digestive system and help in breaking down and digesting the plant material eaten. The bacteria and the enzymes then become part of our intestinal microflora that help extract the nutrients from the very food they are present in.
Who is doing the real work of digesting the foods that give us our life energy?
If your answer is the stomach, the duodenum, the intestines, the colon, the liver, or the pancreas, you are absolutely wrong! They just create the environments for the breakdown of food. It is the living enzymes, bacteria, yeast, fungi and a whole host of beneficial microorganisms in our gut that do the core of the digestion job. That is why we should keep their populations healthy.
The problem with Cooking Food
When plants and fruits are cooked, all these useful bacteria and enzymes get killed. When such cooked food is eaten, it is the enzymes of the human body that have to do the job of decomposing and digesting the food. It takes a lot of energy and resources for the human body to keep up its count of beneficial bacteria and enzymes all by itself, with no help from natural and raw foods. This is what drains the human body of energy as well as makes the digestion process more difficult and longer.
Cooking also alters the genetic structure of food to a level where the body cannot recognize it any more and recognises it as toxic material or waste, therefore preparing its defence against such food. Even basic cooking gets this reaction from food, so you can imagine what treatment the body gives highly processed foods like fried food and fast food. Highly processed foods have virtually no nutrition and energy, and that is the reason why people need to eat more of such foods. Besides that, processed food has so many chemicals added to it to enhance its taste and shelf life that it becomes a toxic burden for the body.
There is no denying the fact that some people are advised not to eat raw foods, because they have serious weaknesses in their intestines or colon from earlier infections. So, it is always good to clean raw food in salt water or soda bicarb water or potassium permanganate water before eating them raw.
One of the big problems modern doctors and nutritionists do not understand well enough, is the complete design of the human body. This is why, in my book, I have detailed some deeper aspects of the human body that you will not find in any other book. It is the knowledge that doctors, nutrtitionists and therapists need to understand. My quote on this topic is “May all strive to be more knowledgeable about the nature and working of the human body, for in it lies the answer to their health and happiness, as well as their symbiosis with Mother Earth.”
My other favourite quotes are:
Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food. ~ Hippocrates The doctor of the future will no longer treat the human frame with drugs, but rather will cure and prevent disease with nutrition. ~ Thomas Edison
Darryl D’Souza started his professional career as an engineer in 1993, but he got drawn into the world of medicine, alternative health therapy and metaphysics of the human body by a series of illnesses and experiences that nearly took his life in 2004. At that time most doctors gave up on him, labelling him as a hopeless case. It was only natural therapies that gave him a radical turnaround in health in a very short time, which he then began teaching in 2005. His later intense studies and research in the field of health, nutrition and curing chronic illness, helped him write his book ‘Become Healthy or Extinct’ which is a path-breaking book on health and curing illness. His youthful looks belie his age, since he experienced ‘reverse aging’ to quite an extent using the health protocols he teaches.
He now conducts health workshops in various Indian cities, and is in the process of setting up a wellness center in Goa - India, which is his ancestral place. His favourite recreational activity is connecting with healers, therapists and doctors worldwide.
